ProForm Treadmill Reviews (2024): Budget-Friendly Fitness Options

Brand Rating: 9/10

ProForm treadmills are produced by the world-leading, Utah-based gym equipment manufacturer iFit Health and Fitness. When comparing ProForm treadmills to other brands, I see the Horizon lineup as a good match and both compete for the same customer base. ProForm is the budget-minded sister to iFit’s NordicTrack and Freemotion brands. A little lower-priced with fewer flashy bells and whistles, but ultimately the same overall quality. That said, in my experience on these units, all ProForm treadmills are feature-rich compared to the alternatives within their price class. ProForm treadmills for 2024 have a range of different features, from HD touch screens to Bluetooth speakers, come iFit-ready, and bring other amenities to help keep you motivated.

PROS
  • Budget-minded pricing between $999 and $2299
  • Great range of screen sizes
  • iFit-enabled
CONS
  • Without iFit the screens lose value

Below are overviews of the main ProForm treadmill series currently on the market. Retail prices range from $999 to $2,299, but you can often find the models online with up to 50% off. We traveled to Logan, Utah, home of iFit and its corporate showroom, for a full walk-through and sampling of all the equipment. What strikes me about ProForm is I can easily afford any of these models and get a good workout. Perhaps the best value of the year is the ProForm Trainer 1000, which you get for free in exchange for a three-year commitment to iFit’s Family Plan at just $39 per month, or a one-time payment of just $1,403, which covers both the machine interactive training app.

ProForm’s 2024 treadmill series includes a wide range traditional treadmills that supports touchscreens and the iFit app. With the app, users can take advantage of unlimited workout program downloads including scenic interactive workouts built with Google Maps, customized training advice, and automated logging of your fitness stats. The hallmark of iFit is automated trainer control, meaning the machine, or live trainers, can adjust the speed, resistance, and incline/decline of the unit. The machines do work without the $15 to $39 per month app, but not so much their screens. Without the paid app, you’ll be able to use the treadmill in manual mode, and no, the screen won’t work with Netflix.

As with any brand there are both ups and downs, and with ProForm you’re getting a solid machine with great incline and decline options, speed ranges, as well as interactive training options. The only downside relative to the sister NordicTrack lineup is the brand comes with fewer flashies, just pivoting and swiveling high-definition screens and larger motors. But if bang for the buck is your pursuit, ProForm is good to go. If you’re shopping for treadmills right now, consider our Five Step Buying Guide for useful tips.

Pro Series

The ProForm Pro Series features the brand’s top treadmill tech. The two treadmills in this lineup for 2024 are suitable for runners as well as walkers. Motor capacity ranges from 3.25 CHP on the Pro 2000 to 3.6 CHP on the Pro 9000 model. Both Pro Series units feature 60″ x 20″, which are quite spacious, and a power incline/decline from -3 to 12%, as well as speeds up to 12 miles per hour.

The ProForm Pro 2000 has a smart 10″ HD touchscreen while the ProForm Pro 2000 features a 22″ HD touchscreen, both of which work in conjunct with iFit.

Carbon Series

Although the ProForm Carbon Series is technically a step down from the Pro Series, we’re still big fans of the treadmills’ price–performance ratio. The Carbon Trainer 1000, Trainer 14.0, and TLX feature 7″ high-definition touchscreens. All of these machines can accommodate up to 300 pounds in user weight, which should be sufficient for most customers. The Carbon TLX has a 3.0 CHP, 20″ x 60″ track, and 0-12% incline and maximum speeds of 12 miles per hour. Meanwhile, the Trainer 14.0 and Trainer 1000 are very similar to the Carbon TLX, but whereas the Carbon TXL offers a 7″ high-definition screen, the Trainer 1000 features a 10″ high-definition touchscreen, and the 14.0 a 14″ high-definition touchscreen.

Purchase of both the ProForm Trainer 1000 and Trainer 14.0 require a three-year family membership to iFit at $39 per month or a one-time fee of 1,403. Considering that in other cases, you’d either have to buy both the machine and the app, this is a great deal. True, you can use the ProForm machines in manual mode without iFit, but the screens lose a lot of their value as well as automatic trainer control.

A treadmill which folds can be wheeled away when not in use. Customers can get this Carbon T7 nearly free now by signing up for three years of iFit.

What We Like:

  • Motors

ProForm treadmills have solid motors in my experience. I have yet to work on one that wore out. ProForm does offer a pretty wide range of motor sizes though, so you might want to read up on all things treadmills, check out our article here.

  • Reasonable Price Range

Every customer has a different price point, so it’s important to have machines for every budget. ProForm doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Their factory-direct sale price for treadmills ranges from $599 to $2,299.

  • Programming Options

Each treadmill is also with iFit, a subscription service that syncs your machine with virtual outdoor training via Google Maps and HD workouts hosted by celebrity personal trainers in fitness studios around the world. Many of these models come with a subscription included with the purchase.

  • Incline Features

All ProForm treadmills can automatically incline or decline, giving you plenty of workout programming options.

  • Cushioning

Your joints will appreciate ProForm’s top-of-the-line cushioning system. With up to 28% less impact on the lower body, you’ll be able to train pain-free for the foreseeable future.

  • Compact Design

Most of ProForm’s treadmills are foldable and can be easily tucked away when not in use.

  • Audio

Most ProForm treadmills come equipped with audio auxiliary ports with dual 2″-3″ speakers.

  • Warranties

Most treadmills in this brand offer warranties up to 10 years of coverage on the frame, 2 years on parts, and 1 year on labor, depending on the machine.

What We Don’t Like:

  • iFit-dependent

These machines are built to work with iFit. You can use the machines without the app, but they lose a lot of value in terms of screen and features. If you don’t want the iFit programming, I’d suggest looking at other brands.

Our Verdict:

ProForm has an inclusive range of treadmills on its roster to suit every budget and type of exerciser. In fact, the brand’s popularity is sufficient that many of their older models, though discontinued, are still carried online and at other retailers due to demand. Their wide variety of prices make them affordable for just about everyone and there is a sharp increase in quality as the prices increase. This is evidence of a brand that understands its different users’ needs and tailors its products to these accordingly. At all the different price points, you can count on ProForm to deliver top-notch quality and a smooth ride. Many people have already experienced excellent fitness results using ProForm treadmills. Overall, they are certainly worth the investment. It’s worth noting that ProForm and NordicTrack treadmills are quite similar, so consider comparing machines from both brands to see which one best suits your personal needs before diving into a purchase.
