Sears Treadmill Reviews

Brand Rating: 6.0/10

Sears offers more than fifty home treadmill lines through its online store. These run the gamut from economy models to high-end machines with commercial features. Some brands  available through Sears include Yowza, HealthRider, ProForm, and NordicTrack. They also feature special financing offers from time to time and frequently offer major discounts on fitness equipment (especially around major holidays).

What We Like:

  • Convenience: How you receive your treadmill is up to you. When you buy certain treadmill brands from Sears, you can either have the equipment shipped directly to your home or you can pick it up directly in-store. However, you’ll want to check with your local store because this offer is not available in all areas. If you choose in-store pick up, there is no additional cost, but if you choose to have the treadmill shipped directly to your home you’ll obviously pay shipping fees.
  • Price: Sears tends to offer competitive prices and frequently has sales. To take advantage of these competitive price tags, look for their seasonal sales that compete with the manufacturer offers. Sometimes customers can still find the treadmills for less by buying directly from the manufacturer, so make sure to compare prices before committing.
  • Selection: The Sears collection of more than fifty treadmill lines means that something is available for every consumer. From Weslo to NordicTrack, they offer machines that hit almost all price points so you should be able to find at least one machine to fit your budget.
  • Website Navigation: The Sears website makes it easy to narrow the selection logically by being able to search by brand, current offers, discounted treadmills, new arrivals, price, user ratings, etc. Their simple navigation system makes it fairly easy to look through their wide selection of treadmills, but it can also be overwhelming for those who aren’t quite sure what they want.
  • Special Payment Options for Sears Customers: Sears offers special financing deals seasonally. Offers vary from month to month, so you’ll need to check with Sears fairly often. Some of these deals include options like no interest if paid in full within 24 months when you use a qualifying Sears card. Other special financing options are also available that might not be offered by the manufacturer.
  • Additional Accessory Options: On certain models, Sears will offer “bundles,” which just means that you get additional items with your treadmill purchase for a low price. For example, you can buy some treadmills as a “bundle” and get an exercise mat included with your purchase.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Pick-up: Some treadmill models can be shipped directly to your home, but others are only shipped to the nearest Sears store and require customer pick-up. As we mentioned above, it’s great to have options but not when the only option is in-store pick up.
  • Expensive Warranty Options: In addition to the manufacturer warranty, Sears offers warranties of their own, but they are quite steep in price. For example, on one of their NordicTrack models a 3 year warranty will cost you $185 and a 5 year warranty will cost you $275.
  • Lacks Unbiased Reviews: Not all machines even have reviews which makes it difficult to know if the treadmill you’re buying is worth the money. Even worse, many of the reviews  tend to be either paid reviews or unhelpful. There are a few helpful reviews among the bad, but it’s hard to who to trust. For a big ticket item like fitness equipment, this could be a problem.
  • Older models: For some lines, Sears does not carry the latest model. They also lack the full series of particular models/brands.

Our Verdict:

Sears offers a great range of treadmills, from models that cost as low as $350 to high-end luxury treadmills. A manufacturer’s website might offer better deals (and newer models!), but the Sears collection is worth checking out. Just make sure that you don’t get bogged down in extra costs.
