Virtually run along the world’s most beautiful trails with Vision’s Virtual Active™ Passport Media system which streams video that changes with your speed, letting you virtually experience scenic trails from around the world. Both the T40 and folding TF40 model come with 2 Virtual Active™ courses built-in (additional sold separately).

The T40 is designed with a 3.0 CHP Johnson Drive System, an intuitively responsive digital drive system that automatically adjusts to speed/incline changes and features a larger motor running at lower revolutions for an incredibly quiet, smooth operation.

Vision Fitness T40 residential Treadmill has a $2,599 base price. Customers choose from three consoles: Classic, Elegant + and Touch +. (The Classic console is included at the $2,799 price.) The consoles differ in terms of screen size and type, preset workouts, Passport, ViaFit™ compatibility, and other features.

You’ll get lifetime protection on the non-folding frame, the cushioning, and the motor. The warranty is seven years on parts and two years on labor.

What We Like:

  • Console choice: Each console that’s sold on the T40 treadmill can charge USB devices and includes accessory trays, a water bottle holder and a magazine rack. The Classic, Elegant, and Touch consoles include 5, 15 and 19 pre-programmed workouts respectively. The Classic console has a large LED readout, the Elegant + console has a 10″ high-definition color touch screen, and the Touch + console has a 15.6″ high-definition color screen. The Touch + and Elegant + also come with ViaFit™ connectivity. The only console with a full audio system and speakers is the Elegant +.
  • Virtual Active Programming: Each version of the T40 can be used with Virtual Active programming by Passport. You’ll love it! It’s included with the Touch + and Elegant + consoles, and is sold separately with the others. Virtual Active streams scenic paths that move with your body, simulating your experience of beautiful running tours around the world. Two HD videos are included, others are sold separately.
  • Motor: The T40’s 3.0 HP motor supports speeds up to 12 mph. The larger motor is designed to run at lower revolutions so it is both powerful and quiet. This motor also comes with a lifetime guarantee.
  • Digital Drive System: The Johnson Drive System is a responsive, digital drive system that automatically and intuitively adjusts and recalibrates at speed and incline changes.
  • Track cushioning: Vision’s trademarked Ultra Zone cushioning is so ideal for the body, it’s been likened to orthopedic shoes! In fact, some treadmill reviewers suggest that Vision cut down on their cushy tracks to lower their treadmill prices…
  • No maintenance: The Vision T40 is virtually maintenance free, as it ought to be for the price. The two-ply belt is pre-lubricated and is unlikely to need replacing.
  • Heart rate monitoring: All of the T40 consoles have contact grip monitors. Additionally, the Touch + and Elegant + consoles include full Polar wireless monitoring systems, (strap included) which are more accurate. For the price of a wireless chest strap you can use Polar with the Classic console too.
  • Incline: The T40’s track inclines up to 15%, letting you concentrate on toning different muscle groups. The incline is electronic so you can adjust it in the middle of a workout.
  • High capacity: This unit is guaranteed to be stable for up to 400 pounds. It weighs 276 pounds.
  • Long warranty: The Vision Fitness T40 treadmill includes lifetime warranties for the cushioning, frame and motor. Parts are covered for seven years. Labor is provided for two years.

 What We Don’t Like:

  • Price: Our favorite console, the Touch+, brings the T40’s MSRP to $3,599. For that price, you could buy a refurbished Landice that would probably run “forever.” You might even find something else you like for less.
  • Audio: Only the Elegant + Console offers built-in speakers and an audio system.

Our Verdict:

In our review, the T40 with all the trimmings would be a dream to own – but unless you’re a “Money is no object” sort of person, shop around. An excellent competitor that comes to mind is Yowza, a brand that often sells its Daytona treadmill for less than $2,000.

If you do choose the Vision Fitness T40, you can expect durability, an above-average track, a quiet and non-stalling motor, and some very engaging workout options if you choose to spend more than the base price.
