A low sale price on LifeSpan’s TR2000 treadmill makes this well-made product even more enticing than it was at debut. For less than $1000 you can own a treadmill with incline and decline, a compact size and a high weight capacity. We especially like the built-in heart rate control workouts and body mass calculator.

About the brand: Although LifeSpan isn’t as well-known as NordicTrack and other treadmill brands, it’s a reputable company with a long history in fitness equipment design. It markets treadmills to an older audience and is especially known for providing safety features.

What We Like:

  • Program Variety: Six incline programs, five speed programs, two heart rate control programs and two user-designed routines provide ample workout variety. Trainees with LifeSpan Fitness Club website memberships can download personalized workouts too.
  • Intensity Options: In addition to selecting from various inclines and declines, trainees can choose from five intensity levels for each preset program.
  • Good Belt Quality: The two-ply treadbelt moves along wide rollers for longevity. It’s supported by eight shock absorbers to minimize pressure on joints.
  • Good Belt Size: The 20”W x 56”L treadbelt is roomy enough for most people’s walking and jogging strides. However, taller people will need a longer track for running. Longer tracks are provided on the LifeSpan 400-I and 5000i treadmills.
  • Motorized Tilt: The motorized ramp has ten levels of incline and five levels of decline. Wraparound handlebars make it easy to get an advanced workout without losing your balance.
  • Powerful Motor: The TR2000’s 2.5 CHP motor with lifetime warranty is akin to other brands’ 2.25 HP motors. It can power you through long jogs and won’t stutter during sudden changes in speed.
  • High Speed: This treadmill’s top speed is 10 mph. Since it starts off at just .5 mph, you can use this trainer for gentle rehab or a power run.
  • High Capacity: The machine’s weight limit is 350 pounds.
  • Folding Treadmill: An EZ-Drop system lets you fold the treadmill for vertical storage. When folded it takes only 32″ x 32″ of floor space.
  • Great Warranty: Customers get lifetime protection on the frame and motor, five years on parts and one year of labor.

What We Don’t Like

  • No Fan: Why does LifeSpan forget to include fans? To avoid overheating your body, be sure to a use a fan when working out.
  • No Extras: If you want a treadmill with a TV or other entertainment, this isn’t the one for you.

Our Verdict

The LifeSpan TR2000 is a well-built home treadmill that incorporates important safety features, a variety of exercise programs, a powerful motor and a great warranty. The 12% incline and 5% decline help users to tone their muscles and burn calories even more efficiently than when walking or running on a flat surface.

The TR2000 treadmill model is a great choice for most average-sized people. If you have much more height or weight than the average adult, see other LifeSpan treadmills. The TR4000i and TR5000i have higher weight capacities and longer tracks than the TR2000.
