NordicTrack was established in Minnesota, a state with an average high temperature of just 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Naturally it’s somewhere you’d want to train inside, and exactly the sort of place you’d expect as the birthplace of one of the largest manufacturers of indoor fitness equipment. NordicTrack’s founder first designed and sold indoor cross-country ski machines, and in the ’80s NordicTrack expanded its roster to include treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio trainers, growing into the top international fitness brand we know it as today. It is currently owned by ICON Health and Fitness, along with other world-leading at-home fitness brands such as ProForm, iFit, and FreeMotion.

NordicTrack’s 2019 treadmill series includes traditional treadmills and incline trainer treadmills. If you’re looking for their treadmill desks, you can still find these on Amazon and elsewhere online; we’ll talk you through them below too. In each series (except the treadmill desks) at least one of the models have touch screens and all of the models support the iFit Coach app. With the app, users can take advantage of unlimited workout program downloads including scenic interactive workouts built with Google Maps, customized training advice, and automated logging of your fitness stats.

Compare the range by browsing our NordicTrack comparison chart below which will give you more detailed descriptions of each treadmill line.

Traditional NordicTrack Treadmills

When browsing the 2019 NordicTrack product line, we see three different levels of machines—the entry-level T Series, the higher spec Commercial Series and then the Commercial Incline Treadmill Series. All these lines offer great machines that can accommodate a wide range of fitness goals and exercise styles including walking and running.

By bumping up to the Commercial Series from the T Series, you’ll benefit from several additional features, including:

  • Extra wide tracks, which give you plenty of room to run comfortably
  • Advanced cushioning systems for superior joint protection and comfort
  • Sturdy and more durable construction, ensuring that you feel stable at all times
  • Smooth and quiet operation
  • Steeper inclines which can provide even greater sculpting benefits and better simulate hill running outdoors if you prefer training in that way

Regardless of which of these lines you choose, the following features are also available:

  • Foldable capabilities, so that you can neatly tuck your treadmill away when not in use to save space.
  • Continuous-duty horsepower motors that range from 2.6 on the T 6.5 Si model to 4.25 on the Commercial 2950. The T 6.5 Si is an ideal treadmill for walking and jogging but it doesn’t perform as well for more serious running. For running, any other model in their line should serve you well.
  • The top level T Series treadmill offers a power incline that goes all the way from zero to 12%, giving you the ability to crank up the intensity of your workout sessions whenever you please. If you opt for a Commercial Series treadmill you’ll get a power incline and decline setting from -3 to 15%, giving you an even greater range.
  • If you want apps, the NordicTrack range won’t disappoint. The treadmills come with many built-in applications including iFit which gives users access to a vast array of workout programs and personalized coaching to help kickstart your fitness journey or recharge your current exercise routine.
  • All the treadmills contain responsive cushioning to give your joints better impact protection.
  • As NordicTrack continues to update these models, their HD touch screens are increasing in size—currently the smallest screen available is 10 inches, as seen on the T 6.5 Si. The top spec Commercial 2950 has a 22-inch screen.
  • Regarding the warranty, NordicTrack offers up to 10 years on the frame, 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor depending on the machine.

The C Series is slowly being phased out by NordicTrack; a line that includes the C590, C700, C990, C1070, and C1650 models. That said, most of these models are still available for purchase at significantly discounted prices on Amazon. Though not as high tech as NordicTrack’s latest and greatest models, these treadmills still offer good build quality and are capable of running iFit training programs.

Incline Trainer Treadmills

When you decide to train on an incline, your calorie burn increases dramatically. A severe incline is a great way to increase fat burn and optimize weight loss—especially for those who are unable or unwilling to get into running. This is precisely what made the NordicTrack Incline Trainers so popular in the first place. Think of these incline trainers as a hybrid between a stepper and a treadmill, providing you the benefits of both platforms depending on its settings during your workout.

In addition to their ability to use such a steep incline (as well as a decline of up to -6%), NordicTrack Incline Trainers also offer:

  • Continuous-duty horsepower ratings ranging from 3.75 to 4.25
  • iFit Coach interactive training sessions along with up to 50 pre-programmed workouts
  • iFit Google Maps workouts which allow you to plot your cardio routes on real streets and different terrains around the globe
  • Wireless heart rate monitoring via an iFit Bluetooth chest strap (included)
  • Warranty protection offering up to 10 years on the frame, 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor depending on the machine
  • High quality HD touch screens built into each console ranging from 10 inches on the X11i, up to 32 inches on the X32i

Desk Treadmills

Looking for a way to get active at work? If your workplace can accommodate it, you’ll want to check out the NordicTrack Desk Treadmill Series. This series gives you just what you need to walk while you work. You can expect a sturdy work surface that has been designed to accommodate all your computer needs along with a belt that’s extra cushioned and tested to ensure it can survive the 9-to-5 daily grind.

These machines can also provide you with the stats of your exercise session. This feature is built right into the desktop and can easily connect with iFit on your tablet so you can keep tabs on the data and monitor your progress. You’ll get a new personal training workout every single day along with workouts built in Google Maps to keep you entertained. There’s no question, NordicTrack treadmill desks can make your workday much more interesting. The desktop surface itself has a built-in USB charging port as well, which is perfect for keeping your devices fully charged.

You’ll have two different options to choose from, the Treadmill Desk and the Treadmill Desk Platinum. The Platinum model benefits from a longer track and higher top speed (8 mph instead of 6) and is also the only of the two models to have an incline feature (10%).

NordicTrack Desk Treadmills are easily foldable, allowing you to save significantly on floor space. What’s more, you can still get to the desk while it is folded, so you won’t have to worry about your work being out of reach.

In addition to this, you’ll also benefit from:

  • The same iFit integration as conventional NordicTrack treadmills
  • Quiet, self-cooling DurX Motor, ensuring your workout won’t disturb your colleagues
  • A highly cushioned deck to prevent joint strain after lengthy walking workouts

What We Like:

  • Motors: NordicTrack treadmills tend to have more powerful motors than others in their price categories. Most of the models updated for 2019 have commercial-grade motors with at least 3.0 continuous-duty horsepower (CHP). The entry-level model in the Commercial Series, for example, has 3.75 CHP.
  • Consoles: NordicTrack provides many extras to help motivate you to keep exercising. Their recent updates of treadmill consoles across their model range include luxuries such as high definition touch screens up to 32 inches wide, Bluetooth-enabled sound systems and iFit readiness. The consoles also have self-adjusting fans and water bottle holders.
  • Coaching: Although optional, NordicTrack allows you to use their products with iFit, a virtual gym membership you can enjoy in the comfort of your home or office. You can benefit from world-class training and access to a fitness community to optimize your workouts, alongside nutrition and sleep advice tailored for your individual needs.
  • Inclines: There’s a whole host of reasons why incline training has become so popular. It boosts metabolism, tones your leg muscles, works out your heart and much more. NordicTrack is leading the way with its innovative Incline Trainers, plus they’ve included automated ramps on treadmills in each of their series. Even the NordicTrack Platinum Desk Treadmill has a 10% incline.
  • Tracks: The Commercial Series treadmills have extra-wide tracks (22″ wide x 60″ long) made from especially high-quality material to promote quiet operation and minimize maintenance needs. These and the T Series treadmills also have off/on cushioning to let you simulate outdoor training or exercise with superior joint protection.
  • Warranties: This brand’s treadmill warranty includes up to 10 years of coverage on the frame, 2 years on parts and 1 year on labor depending on the machine.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Assembly: Customers generally don’t describe the assembly process as easy. Paying extra for professional set-up could be worth the extra cost.

Our Verdict:

NordicTrack has established an enviable reputation in the treadmill industry. We highly recommend treadmills from each of their series, from the simpler T Series models to the Incline Trainers, and our best treadmill pick, the Commercial 1750. The wide variety of price points, physical features and programming from NordicTrack means that most shoppers can find their perfect match.

Why do you always show hot already in shape models, working out on your equipment instead of someone who needs it. You never show someone who’s a little over weight working out. I think your advertising is wrong. Just a thought.

I'm sorry but I can't give a positive review about the NordicTrack Treadmill, I have the Commercial 2450 and have had it less than 6 months and the incline stopped working, what's worse is ZERO help to get it repaired, I even have the extended warranty.

Hi Lorey, we are sorry to hear about your experience with the NordicTrack treadmill. Were you able to get a hold of customer service? Have you been able to troubleshoot the machine?

Love love my new Norditrack X32i! One of the best treadmill I’ve ever owned! Keeps me visually entertained and wanting to keep working out! When I workout it’s feela like I’m running with a coach besides me keeping me motivated during my workout. I love all the sessions built into the Ifit and the flex board is awesome! I highly recommend this machine! I almost bought the Peleton thread and so glad with my decision to buy this incliner! You won’t be disappointed. The screen is beautiful, reliable and fast. This machine makes me want to workout. It’s so much fun being able to pick your destination to do your next workout and the scenery of each workout is breathtaking!

What other apps can be installed on this machine? For example, can it have a Netflix or Amazon app installed so that movies and Tv shows can be streamed onto the treadmill's display? Or what about being able to read e-books off this screen?

Worst experience ever!!!! The item wasn’t good. Returned the item but haven’t received the refund even after over a month now. It’s hard to get anybody on the phone. I do not recommend purchasing from NordicTrack at all!!
    • Amanda B. April 30, 2019 at 3:44 pm
Hi Sarah, we are sorry to hear about your experience with this treadmill. Was there something specific that didn't work on your machine? Were you able to get a representative to help answer any questions?

NEED TO ADJUST THE BELT---CANT KEEP IT CENTER

The function of my x11i is great from the perspective of a treadmill/incline trainer. Strong smooth motor, nicely cushioned deck, etc. The IFit software that drives it, however, is a sad, sad joke. The software is unbelievably unstable and often interupts workouts unless you run the machine in manual mode. I could not recommend this trainer to anyone who wants to run the instructor led programs.
    • Amanda B July 16, 2019 at 1:29 pm
Hi Craig, sorry to hear that you are having issues with the iFit software of your treadmill. Have you tried contacting iFit support to fix the problem?
  • Bobbie August 5, 2019 at 4:34 pm
Have used Nordic Track machines for over 20 years and been very happy with them UNTIL this year. I purchased a new T6.5 Si treadmill, and it was set up in March of this year. Since then it has malfunctioned twice, speeding up to the point that I fell both times. Once I hit the increase speed icon two separate clicks, and it DOUBLED in speed. Last week I hit the decrease icon one time and the machine actually sped up DOUBLY again! I am now afraid to get back on it. I wanted them just to send someone out to remove it from my home......not asking for any kind of a refund. If I want it removed, I'll have to pay for it myself. They even suggested I sell it if I don't want it anymore. What???? Sell a defective machine that might actually hurt someone? Lesson learned: Newer products are not necessarily superior even with all the fancy bells and whistles. Buyer beware.

Hi Bobbie, we are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your treadmill. Nordictrack is working on improving their shipping delivery methods, which are largely responsible for the issues with models when they arrive at a customer's door. Hopefully they are able to quickly resolve their shipping issues to get back to being the brand you've known and loved for 20 years.

I have had three Nordic Track treadmills delivered to my home in the last 8 weeks, each one was damaged by fork lift truck I did not accept the treadmill but this is a serious issue I sold my old treadmill before these arrived and have been without exercise equipment for weeks. The company doesn't seem to be getting to the bottom of this issue I will instead try with a different company.
